Section 171
Prohibition Of Concluding Marriage Without Consent
(1) No
marriage shall be concluded, or caused to be concluded, without the
consent of the persons getting married.
(2) A marriage concluded without the consent referred to in
sub-section (1) shall be void.
(3) A person who commits the offence referred to in subsection
(1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term
not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding twenty thousand
rupees.
Explanation: For the purposes of this Section, a consent given
by a person who has not attained the marriageable age under Section
173 shall not be deemed to be consent.
